Air Freight Pricing, Weight and Packing Explained
Air freight is billed on chargeable weight, which is the higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is length x width x height in centimetres, divided by 6,000. A 60 x 40 x 40 cm box weighing 12 kg is billed as 16 kg. Light but bulky cargo therefore costs more than its weight suggests, and dense cargo costs less.
Good packing keeps the carton size down and protects the contents. Use export-grade cartons or crates, number every box and keep the numbers on your packing list. Some items need declaring before they can fly: lithium batteries, aerosols and flammable liquids are classed as dangerous goods and need extra paperwork or have to go by sea.

Express air freight usually takes 6 to 8 days and standard air freight 6 to 8 days door to door to most destinations, depending on the route, flight schedules and customs. We confirm dates when you book.

The price depends on chargeable weight, the destination, the service level, the type of cargo and where it is collected and delivered. We quote each shipment individually, with the freight, handling and extras itemised.

Which airports do you fly from?
We use Dubai International (DXB), Al Maktoum (DWC) and Abu Dhabi (AUH), choosing the airport that gives the best mix of speed and cost for your cargo.
Which items do you not carry by air?
We do not carry cosmetics, batteries, liquids, food or jewellery. Tell us what is in your cargo and we confirm what can travel.
Do you handle customs clearance at the destination?
Yes. We prepare the UAE export documents and coordinate import clearance at the destination, including duty and tax estimates where they apply.
What documents do I need to ship by air?
For business cargo, a commercial invoice, packing list and consignee details, plus permits or a certificate of origin for regulated goods. For personal effects, passport, visa or residence copy, an inventory and the destination address.
Do you handle excess baggage?
Yes. If you are travelling with more than your airline allows, we can send the extra baggage as air cargo. Tell us the weight and the destination and we quote it.
Is cargo insurance available?
Yes. We arrange transit insurance for air shipments through AIG. It is worth taking for high-value or fragile goods. Tell us the declared value and we include it in your quote.
