Ask a questionAir freight usually takes 3 to 8 days door to door and sea freight about 3 to 7 weeks, depending on the country. Landlocked countries and the north of Europe take longer by sea. See the table for each country.
Geographically yes, but the UK has its own customs system and is not in the EU. Switzerland is also outside the EU customs union. The other countries on this page are EU members and follow EU customs law.
Often yes. EU countries allow duty-free import of personal belongings if you lived outside the EU for at least 12 months, owned and used the goods for at least 6 months and clear them within 12 months of arriving. The UK and Switzerland have their own rules. We confirm the conditions for your country before you book.
Yes, import VAT is charged in the destination country and varies from 17% to 25.5%. Duty depends on the product code and origin, and consignments under 150 euros in the EU are duty-free but still carry VAT.

Sea freight costs much less per kilo than air. LCL suits a few boxes or pallets, and a full container suits larger loads. Many people send urgent items by air and the rest by sea.
